Orem High Marching Band Invitation:
Dear parents & musicians,
Are you ready for some of the most exciting, fun-filled, and unforgettable experiences of your high school years? Imagine performing in front of roaring crowds at football games, traveling to competitions and festivals, and making incredible memories with friends, who feel like family. Not only will you get to play awesome music, but you’ll also be part of an elite team that brings school spirit to the next level. (*Note: The many leadership opportunities in marching band also look GREAT on resumes and college applications.) Whether you're blasting powerful melodies, nailing epic drum cadences, or dancing in the color guard, marching band is where real magic happens!
With the departure of our Timpanogos friends, our size and experiences may be a little different as we return to our historic roots as a band made up of only Orem High and Mountain View musicians. But with incredible junior high instructors like Todd Halversen and Kandis Taylor (and more recently Carsten House) I’m confident we can build something uniquely SPECTACULAR.
This year we’ll learn music that challenges each musician and thrills each audience member. We’ll sweat profusely under the blazing summer sun, and perform powerfully in frigid fall temperatures. And, we’ll master precision marching techniques, and demonstrate superior execution of music and drill at FIVE state-wide competitions, including the state championship Red Rocks competition in St. George. Participating in the marching band will stretch and challenge you, and push you to achieve greater musical and physical heights. There will be times when, amidst some fatigue, you will question if it’s “worth it”. But there will be other times when you will KNOW that it’s 100% WORTH IT. Please join me, and let’s make some noise!
